Kin Series 3: RTÉ Release Date, Cast and Episodes

Kin series 3 will be shown on RTÉ in 2027, RTÉ has confirmed, but as of Monday 5 October 2026 there is no start date, no night and no episode count. It is an RTÉ drama made in association with the BBC, so Ireland's first showing is on RTÉ, and RTÉ said in 2024 that the first two series were on RTÉ Player.
- Release date: 2027 on RTÉ. The day and month are not confirmed.
- Cast: Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne, Emmett J. Scanlan and Maria Doyle Kennedy are all back, with nine returning names in RTÉ's list.
- New faces: Alex Deegan as Shelley Dunne and Diyar Bozkurt as Aslan Batuk.
- Episodes: not confirmed for series 3. Series 1 and series 2 are listed at eight episodes each.
When is Kin series 3 on RTÉ?
Some time in 2027. RTÉ's season launch on 26 August 2026 put it in one line: the new series will air in 2027. No month came with it, and RTÉ's press pages had nothing newer on Kin when we checked on Sunday 4 October.
The gap has been long. Series 1 went out on RTÉ in 2021 and series 2 in 2023, then production stopped after BRON Studios went bankrupt. RTÉ said in April 2024 that the partners were still talking about a third run. The confirmation that cameras were rolling came on 21 July 2026, when RTÉ listed Kin series 3 among the dramas in production.
| Series | Year on RTÉ | Episodes | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Series 1 | 2021 | 8 | Aired |
| Series 2 | 2023 | 8 | Aired |
| Series 3 | 2027 | Not confirmed | In production; date not confirmed |
The years come from RTÉ. The episode counts for the first two series come from the published episode list, which runs to 16 in total.
Who is in the Kin series 3 cast?
RTÉ named 11 actors in August: nine returning and two new. Charlie Cox coming back as Michael is the name most viewers will look for.
| Actor | Character | Returning or new |
|---|---|---|
| Charlie Cox | Michael | Returning |
| Clare Dunne | Amanda | Returning |
| Emmett J. Scanlan | Jimmy | Returning |
| Maria Doyle Kennedy | Birdy | Returning |
| Sam Keeley | Viking | Returning |
| Yasmin Seky | Nikita | Returning |
| Mark McKenna Jr. | Anthony | Returning |
| Jack Meade | Wayne Madigan | Returning |
| Öykü Karayel | Nuray Batuk | Returning |
| Alex Deegan | Shelley Dunne | New |
| Diyar Bozkurt | Aslan Batuk | New |
That is the full list RTÉ has published. Anyone not in the table hasn't been announced, and we won't add names from rumour.

How many episodes will series 3 have?
RTÉ hasn't said. Neither the July drama announcement nor the August season launch gives a number, and Heat's report on the filming, published on 26 August, doesn't have one either. Both earlier series are listed at eight episodes, so eight would fit the pattern, but that is a guess until RTÉ confirms it.
What is series 3 about?
The Kinsellas are on top now, and that is the problem. RTÉ's summary says the family is consolidating power while buried betrayals and old rivalries turn inward, so the biggest danger to the family business comes from the family. RTÉ's July announcement called it the darkest chapter of the story so far. We haven't seen any episodes, and RTÉ has released no trailer that we could find.
Who is making it this time?
Peter McKenna created Kin, with Ciaran Donnelly as co-creator, and McKenna is the showrunner. The production companies are new: Metropolitan Pictures and House of Juno make series 3, with David McLoughlin and Samantha Thomas producing. RTÉ presents it in association with the BBC, Fifth Season and Screen Ireland, and Fifth Season sells all three series abroad. Heat reports that filming is in Dublin and Wicklow.
Where can you watch Kin in Ireland?
RTÉ is the home of the show. When RTÉ last gave details, in April 2024, series 1 and series 2 were both on RTÉ Player, which is free to use in Ireland. RTÉ also reported then that the first series was going to Netflix in Ireland from 1 May 2024. Check both before you start a rewatch, because streaming line-ups change.
For series 3, RTÉ has named neither a channel slot nor an RTÉ Player date. If you're in Northern Ireland, BBC One showed the first two series, and the BBC is a partner on the third, but no BBC date has been announced.
While you wait, RTÉ's other dramas are closer: Tall Tales & Murder is on Sunday nights now, and The Galway Bay Murders with Kate Mulgrew is next in line. For the weekly fixtures, see The Late Late Show guests, Fair City and the soaps by night guide. January brings Dancing with the Stars Ireland, and December has the Late Late Toy Show.
