A few slots drift by five minutes on some days, so treat them as start-of-hour rather than to the minute.
Which Virgin Media channel is The Chase on?
Three of them, which is why the question is harder than it sounds. Virgin Media One has the lunchtime pair, Virgin Media Two carries the most showings with two in the morning and one at teatime, and Virgin Media Four picks it up again late in the evening.
Virgin Media Three doesn't show it in the week we checked; that channel is where the soap repeats live. Add it all up and a typical weekday gives you six chances to catch an episode.
Virgin Media One is a free-to-air channel in Ireland, so the lunchtime showings need no subscription.
Is the 5pm Chase in Ireland the same episode as ITV1?
Not necessarily. ITV1 shows The Chase at 5pm on weekdays in the UK, and Virgin Media Two starts one at 5pm too, so the clocks line up.
The episodes may not. Virgin Media's guide doesn't label shows as new or repeat, and a TV Zone UK report says ITV itself went back to repeats on weekday afternoons from Monday 21 September, holding back new episodes. ITV hasn't confirmed that in anything we've seen, so for now we'd treat any single Irish slot as possibly a repeat.
Can you watch The Chase on ITVX in Ireland?
No. ITV's help pages say ITVX, including Premium, only works in the UK because of broadcast and content licences. The one exception is for travellers: Premium subscribers can download episodes to a phone or tablet in the UK and watch them abroad for a limited time.
For anyone living in Ireland that doesn't help. The Irish route is Virgin Media Play, Virgin Media's own streaming service, and we couldn't confirm which Chase episodes, if any, are on it. We won't point you to workarounds that break a service's terms.
What's on at the weekend?
The weekday format gives way to spin-offs. On Saturday 26 September, Virgin Media One has The Celebrity Chase at 7pm and Beat The Chasers at 10.05pm, straight after Graham Norton. Sunday 27 September brings two more Celebrity Chase episodes on Virgin Media One, at 3.30pm and 7pm, plus a regular episode on Virgin Media Two at 7.55pm.
